The Capitol Theatre

4 The luxurious dress circle foyer and lounge featured an Elizabethan Grand piano.
On the right can be seen the circle foyer mezzanine.

" Almost as impressive as the ceilings (in the auditorium) are the giant sandstone pillars in the foyers, which are used as frames for wall mirrors, mural decorations and sculptures. light sienna in tone, they are multi-sided, with the tops and bases relieved by broad dual shoulders painted in brown and bronze. Let into the faces of these pillars are risen squares of plaster, the spaces between the squares being decorated in gold leaf.

The dress circle foyer and lounge are dignified and richly furnished in a harmonious note of gaiety. Covering the vast foyer, the lush Wilton carpets in tones of orange and apricot with the curious arrow-heads of black and green, were specially designed to harmonize with the color and decorative scheme of the whole theatre."
