ABOUT CATHS

Welcome to the Cinema And Theatre Historical Society Inc

CATHS is a non-profit organisation run by dedicated volunteers

The aims of CATHS are to:

Foster interest in cinema and theatre heritage
Seek to preserve theatre and cinema buildings and artefacts
Promote interest in cinema and theatre architecture

Record the history of cinemas and theatres
Organise events to facilitate inspections and documenting of cinema venues.

CATHS is interested in all aspects of cinema and theatre - past, present and future. From vaudeville to picture palaces to multiplexes!

CATHS meetings generally include a guest speaker or a presentation on a aspect of cinema history. Meetings are informative with theatre news, activity reports and happenings and include a break for coffee and a chat. After the meeting, members usually meet at a nearby hotel for lunch and friendly discussions.

Visitors are most welcome to come along to our meetings to 'try us out'! If you love going to the movies or the theatre, are interested in theatre heritage and architecture, or perhaps you have worked in cinema or the performing arts... then why not join CATHS!

Membership is $45 per year, which includes the CATHS quarterly magazine CinemaRecord. Please contact the Secretary for overseas subscriptions.
